Further enhancing its capabilities for AI and high-performance computing tasks, the platform now supports Axelera AI accelerators and integrates NVIDIA GPUs directly with the Slurm appliance. Users will also benefit from automated Bare Metal as a Service (BMaaS) orchestration through the NVIDIA Infrastructure Controller (NICo), bolstering the platform’s AI workload capabilities.
Networking advancements in this release are noteworthy, with the introduction of VLAN Group-level authorization and support for Open vSwitch Switchdev, aimed at boosting performance and ensuring secure, multi-tenant environments. Data protection is strengthened through updates to the OpenNebula Backup Exporter (OneBEX), along with the addition of Selected Disk Backups. Moreover, the platform now offers production-ready support for Ubuntu 26.04, extending its compatibility with popular environments.
The release of OpenNebula 7.4 is complemented by the debut of OpenNebula Apps (OneApps) 7.4.0. These apps include updated virtual appliances, AArch64 support for OneKS, and compatibility with Alpine Linux 3.24.
